The Basics
What are soft wash cleaning chemicals?
Soft washing is all about the chemistry. Instead of blasting a surface, a soft wash system applies a cleaning solution at low pressure and lets the chemical do the work — so the right product, at the right strength, matters as much as the gear you spray it with.
The workhorse is a soft wash solution — usually sodium hypochlorite (SH) based — that kills and removes moss, mould, lichen and algae from roofs, render and cladding. Add surfactants to help the mix cling and dwell for a better clean, and detergents and degreasers for general wash-down. Sealers — protect it after the clean.
Sealers aren't cleaning chemicals — they're a different job entirely. Once a surface is clean, a sealer goes on to protect it: locking out stains, weather and UV, hardening the surface, and keeping it cleaner for longer. For a cleaning business that's a natural add-on service — you're already on site and the surface is prepped.
